A rainy week filled with endless assignments, and meetings one after another, and a fumbled sleep schedule left me on edge. I needed a break — much needed to cleanse the soul.

My friends and I drove down to Easton at 4 p.m. on Saturday and spent six hours at the town center. As rain continued to pour, five indecisive college students gathered around a table in Starbucks, debating what to have for dinner.

“Okay guys, how about this, let’s each think about three restaurants and we will start there,” I said.

As the students became hangrier, someone pulled out a wheel-spinning app on their phone.

We agreed on three final contestants: Chipotle, Slurping Turtle, and Café Istanbul.

Although not spoken, we each likely have a winner in our minds as most of us lean toward Chipotle. To ensure democracy, we decided to do this the civil way: spinning the wheel.

The wheel began to spin, and the nervousness permeated the room. Everyone leaned in toward the phone as the arrow began to lose its momentum.

This is a serious matter.

The arrow landed. Café Istanbul it is.

Some hoorayed and others remained smiling.

Every dish was a delight. All five of us satisfied college students slouch in our seats and agreed this won’t be our last visit. The Turkish owner greets my Turkish friend in her mother tongue and treats us with hummus dips and baklava, making her feel at home.

“Imagine if we settled for Chiptole,” someone said, and we all laughed.

Great service, great food, great conversations. Great friends. Great day.
