The view from my front porch is always the same – beautifully calming – and ever-changing at the same time.

The smell of fresh rain or just-mowed grass in the spring. A neighbor’s barbecue in summer. The brilliant landscape painting that comes with trees wearing bright colors in fall.

This time of year, it’s the festive holiday lights and decorations on my neighbor’s houses – and the celestial lights dancing in the night sky far above our little street.

Even when the temperature falls and the wind picks up a bit, my favorite chair beckons. It’s even more inviting when snowflakes fall and add a dusting of powdered sugar to the sweet-looking decorations.
