Polls in Licking County closed at 7:30, and unofficial results for all 96 precincts were tallied by about 10:30 p.m. Here’s a summary of the unofficial results, which do not include provisional ballots, which will be counted in the coming days.

Bubb wins again in Licking County Commissioner race

With all 96 precincts reporting, incumbent Licking County Commissioner Tim Bubb was re-elected with 68% of the votes.

“I’m pretty confident to be honest with you,” Bubb, a Republican, told TRP reporter Andrew Theophilus at a Licking County Republicans event on Tuesday evening before the final unofficial results were in. “I don’t mean to be arrogant. My opponent [James Snedden] wasn’t that strong. He’s a token opponent that shows up every four years to run against me.”

Flowers wins re-election in Licking County Commissioner race

With 96 precincts reporting, incumbent Republican Duane Flowers defeated challenger Bryn Bird with 65% of the vote.

Branstool wins re-election to Common Pleas Court

Common Pleas Judge David Branstool defeated challenger Matt Kunsman with all 96 precincts counted, Branstool won with about 61% of the vote. 

Kunsman extended a “thank you” to everyone who voted throughout the election during a Licking County Republicans event on Tuesday evening.

“We’ve been really excited about the support we’ve had,” Kunsman said. “We’ve been happy to make connections in every community around the county.”

Balderson wins reelection to U.S. House

Republican Rep. Troy Balderson won reelection to a U.S. House seat representing Ohio on Tuesday. He has represented Ohio’s 12th Congressional District since 2018. He defeated Democrat Jarrad Christian, a software engineer and former meteorologist for the U.S. Navy who made climate change a key campaign issue. The 62-year-old Balderson is a former state lawmaker and business owner. His GOP-leaning district sprawls from the Ohio River in the southeast, almost to industrial Canton in the north, and west to the suburbs of Columbus. The Associated Press declared Balderson the winner at 8:50 p.m. EST.

Licking County senior levy passes

With 59% in favor, Licking County voters approved a 1.2-mill, five-year levy to support programs for senior citizens across the county.

Johnstown voters reject 2.25% income tax

With 64% against the tax, voters rejected a 2.25% income tax for municipal services, according to unofficial results.

Jersey Township liquor issue passes

The Jersey Township “revitalization district” issue to make it easier for restaurants and hotels in the area of the Intel computer-chip manufacturing campus to obtain liquor permits was approved with about 60% of voters in favor, according to unofficial results.

Jersey Township property tax rejected

Voters in Jersey Township rejected the renewal and reduction of a 1.5-mill, five-year levy.

Perry Township Fire and EMS levies approved

Two replacement levies for fire protection and emergency medical services in Perry Township, one for 1.5 mills for five years and the other for 1 mill in four years, both passed with about 56 percent of the vote, according to unofficial results.

Newark Township levy for roads rejected

Voters in Newark Township rejected a 1.5-mill levy for five years for road maintenance. The levy was a replacement and increase.

Hopewell Township levy for roads rejected

Voters in Hopewell Township rejected the renewal and increase of a 3-mill, five-year levy for roads. The vote was 62% against the levy.

Bowling Green Township levy for fire protection approved

Voters approved with 60% of the vote a renewal of a 1-mill, five-year levy for fire protection.

Hanover Village property tax rejected

Voters in Hanover narrowly defeated – by one vote – the renewal of a 3-mill, five-year levy for roads and bridges. The vote was 372 against and 371 in favor in unofficial results. The unofficial results do not include provisional ballots, so the results could change when provisionals are counted.

Hanover Village property tax for fire and EMS approved

Voters approved a 1.5-mill, five-year levy for fire and emergency medical services with almost 60% of the vote in favor.

Hanover Village advisory election on zoning

With almost 72 percent of the vote, Hanover residents advised Hanover Village officials not to enter into an agreement with Licking County for help with zoning in the village.

Gratiot Village replacement property tax rejected

With 54% saying no, voters rejected a 2-mill, five-year property tax replacement. The vote was 33 against and 28 in favor in unofficial results. 

Alexandria Village replacement property tax

With 52% of voters saying no, residents of Alexandria rejected a 4-mill, five-year replacement property tax.

Buckeye Lake charter changes approved

With 75% of voters approving, a proposed charter amendment regarding boards and commissions was accepted. Buckeye Lake voters also approved a charter change regarding purchasing with 74% of voters in favor.

Buckeye Lake tax issues split

Buckeye Lake voters approved renewal of a 1-mill, five-year property tax levy by five votes – 50.24% in favor in unofficial results. Voters rejected a 5-mill, five-year replacement levy with a little more than 51% of the vote against the levy. These unofficial results do not include provisional ballots, which could change the outcome in such cases.

Johnstown voters reject 2.25% income tax

With 64% against the tax, voters rejected a 2.25% income tax for municipal services, according to unofficial results.

Granville charter amendments

Granville voters approved charter amendments regarding commission members and zoning with more than 82% of the vote.

Granville property tax for library services approved

Granville voters said yes to a 0.25-mill, five-year levy renewal and increase for library services. The vote was 63% in favor.

Hebron property tax for police protection rejected

With 55% voting against the levy, Hebron voters rejected replacement of a 5-mill levy for police protection.

Licking Township levy for fire protection and EMS

With 58% in favor, voters in Licking Township approved a 1-mill, five-year levy for fire protection and emergency medical services.

Mary Ann Township levy for fire protection approved

Township voters approved with 57% of the vote a 1.5-mill, five-year levy for fire protection.

St. Albans property tax levies for roads and fire protection rejected

A 7-mill replacement levy for fire protection was rejected with 57% of the vote, and a 0.5-mill, five-year levy for roads was rejected with the same 57% voting against the tax.

West Licking Joint Fire District levy rejected

An additional 4-mill levy to support the West Licking Joint Fire District was rejected with 57% of the vote.

Licking Township liquor option approved

With a little over 60% of the vote, Licking Township voters approved a Sunday sales liquor permit for Dawes Arboretum.

Liberty Township approve tax for roads and bridges

A little more than 57% of voters approved a 1-mill, five-year property tax renewal for roads and bridges.

Newton Township tax approved for roads and bridges

Voters approved by almost 58% a 1-mill, five-year levy for roads and bridges.
